Course Overview

This course is specialty designed to train students in quantity surveying and billing work for highway construction projects. It covers earthwork calculation, emad layers, BOQ preparation, analysis, and billing based on real project practices (PWD, NHAI standards)

Course Objectives

• Learn complete highway construction process

• Introduction to Highway Engineering: Types of roads (NH, SH, Village road); Road structure (Subgrade to Bituminous layer)

• Drawing Reading (Highway): L-section & Cross-section; Road alignment; Profile drawing understanding

• Earthwork Calculation: Cutting & filling calculation; Cross-section method; GSB (Granular Sub Base) quantity

• WMM & Bituminous Work: Compaction & thickness calculation; Layer thickness; Material consumption; Prime coat & Tack coat; BM, DBM & BC layer calculation

• BOQ Preparation: Item description (as per PWD/NHAI); Quantity sheet preparation; Abstract sheet; Material + Labour + Machinery cost; Bitumen, Diesel & plant cost

• Billing: RA Bill (Running Account Bill); Final Bill preparation; Measurement Book (MB) entry

• Practical Training: Real highway project drawings; Excel sheet calculation; Live BOQ & billing format; Case study of road project
