Course Overview

This course focuses on quantity surveying, estimation, and billing of water-related infrastructure projects such as ground reservoirs, overhead water tanks, and water treatment plants (WTP). You will learn how to calculate quantities from drawings and prepare BOQ and bills used in real government and private projects.

Course Objectives

• Learn structure-wise quantity calculation for water projects

• Understand RCC and foundation work in water structures

• Prepare BOQ & cost estimation

• Perform rate analysis for civil works

• Handle billing (RA Bill & Final Bill)

Course Modules

• 1. Drawing Reading & Basics: Structural drawings (Plan, Section, Elevation); Water retaining structures basics; Bar Bending Schedule (BBS)

• 2. Water Reservoir (Ground Level Tank): Excavation & earthwork; PCC & base slab; RCC wall & slab; Waterproofing quantity; Backfilling calculation

• 3. Overhead Water Tank (OHT): Types (Intze tank, Circular tank); Staging (column, bracing, footing); Tank portion (container, dome, slab); Reinforcement (steel) calculation; Formwork quantity

• 4. Water Treatment Plant (WTP): Units: Clarifier, Filter bed, Tank structures; RCC tank quantity calculation; Pipe and channel work; Foundation & structural work

• 5. Reinforcement (Steel) Calculation: BBS preparation; Cutting length; Weight calculation

• 6. Quantity Takeoff: Area & volume calculation; Excel-based quantity sheet; Structure-wise estimation

• 7. BOQ Preparation: Item description (PWD / Govt format); Quantity sheet & abstract; Tender BOQ understanding

• 8. Rate Analysis: RCC, formwork, steel; Waterproofing cost; Labour & machinery cost

• 9. Billing Work: Measurement Book (MB); RA Bill preparation; Final Bill checking
